Whakamaramara Stars

After just purchasing my new 24-70mm 2.8 lens I decided to finally use my 5D MKII for the main reason I brought it - it’s low light capabilities.
I have never shot the stars before because I just haven’t had the equipment to do so and because I live in Auckland we don’t really see many stars from all the light pollution. Luckily I got to spend a week off at home in Whakamaramara (near Tauranga) where the stars are amazing.
The shutter speed was set at 30 seconds and I could easily get away with ISO 800-1250 (iris at 2.8).
After several nights attempts over all I was extremely impressed with how well the 5D handled and the photos that came out of it. Shooting stars Isn’t as easy as it looks.

A promo video I shot with Cameron Houston for Burger Fuels new El Camino burger, currently being played on their in store TVs.
Easy little shoot only taking a few hours shot on 5D MKII with 50mm 1.8 - no extra lighting.
Looking forward to doing more Burger Fuel shoots!

Stills from a promotional video I shot for Auckland University’s Battle of the Bands.
Was a great night shooting up and coming local bands, a personal and crowd favorite being ‘The Frisk’. I love shooting bands because it allows the creativity to operate to the beat of the music.
Really looking forward to seeing the final edit (being cut by Steven Baker) which will be put on Auckland Uni’s website and social networking pages to promote their events they put on for the students.
