After just purchasing my new 24-70mm 2.8 lens I decided to finally use my 5D MKII for the main reason I brought it - it’s low light capabilities.I have never shot the stars before because I just haven’t had the equipment to do so and because I live in Auckland we don’t really see many stars from all the light pollution. Luckily I got to spend a week off at home in Whakamaramara (near Tauranga) where the stars are amazing. The shutter speed was set at 30 seconds and I could easily get away with ISO 800-1250 (iris at 2.8).After several nights attempts over all I was extremely impressed with how well the 5D handled and the photos that came out of it. Shooting stars Isn’t as easy as it looks.
